The Store Hotel will be a 4* boutique hotel in the heart of Oxford developed by Reef Group. It will provide much-needed new hotel, co-work and restaurant facilities in the city centre which will be a high-quality addition to help attract tourists and other visitors to Oxford. This will be vital in getting the local economy back on its feet, particularly in the tourism sector, after the COVID-19 pandemic and the subsequent economic downturn.
Within 10 minutes’ walk of Oxford railway station, the hotel will be located in the former Boswells department store in the centre of the city’s historic streets. It is also adjacent to the terminus and bus stops for the Oxford Parkway park and ride and other bus services to north Oxford and Bicester.
The design process so far
We have carried out extensive work on various aspects of the design of The Store Hotel, in order to ensure that the emerging proposals are both architecturally sensitive to the existing building and its wider context. Throughout this work, we have engaged with Oxford City councillors, Historic England and the Oxford Design Review Panel. Their feedback has helped to resolve technical details and shape the look and feel of The Store Hotel. However, the views of the local community will also play a vital part in further developing the design for the future of the Boswells building, which is why we like you to share your comments through our consultation, click here to do so.
Live Public Webinar
We greatly welcome the input of the local community to ensure our proposals reflect the needs of the local community and help to shape the look and feel of this project. Our original intention had been to hold a public exhibition. Unfortunately, in the light of the ongoing restrictions caused by COVID-19, this is not possible.
Instead, we hosted a live public webinar on Wednesday 15th July 2020 where we shared the proposals and answered questions from attendees. You can view a recording of the webinar below and take part in our consultation on the “Share your views” page.
